Humour!
We are big fans of cartoons or comics as Yankees call them or just plain BD from our Latin friends and, one of our favourites is the Joe Bar Team and their adventures!
The BD that started it all, Joe Bar Team and the JBT Interceptor, a BMW R90 used by the police to catch the Joe Bar Team, the copper's name is Gege, his code name Levrier Noir or the Black Greyhound in English!
This bike kick started Edgar's desire to produce a beautiful Cafe Racer and was the inspiration for our bikes' looks.
Although this is BD, a R90S in the Seventies could keep up with their contemporaries such as the CB750, H2 750, Commando 850 or Ducati 900SS. Top speed was around 125mph in original stock, so imagine with a bit of "The Fuzz tuning"!
Always pulls a smile out of us reading this strip.
In the Seventies, street racing became such a problem in Paris and other French cities, that the Police was forced to take radical actions.
In this cartoon, a Police officer is demonstrating to the Mayor the virtues of the Renault Alpine A310, getting all excited as the car is slowly approaching top speed of 124 mph, only to be overtaken by the Joe Bar Team and Bracame in his CB, would couldn't engage fifth gear!
In 1976, the Circuite Carole was created to attract all these street racers, in order to eliminate danger on the public roads. The circuit still exists and still is very active.
Next, Bracame gets in trouble, when the Fuzz wishes to conduct a Sound pollution test, not a good day, as Edouard is experimenting a new mix of nitro-glycerine!
Yes, is that Nitro mix again, this time on his nephew moped!
Now, the last one takes the mickey out these old Police Boxers! Unfortunately, these low centre gravity, fine handling and very wide engines have their shortcomings, to the benefit of some mooning bikers!
