Fuel Tank designed and developed by us, to fit all BMW´s R2v series BMW (1969-1995) Airheads, including all Monolevers.
Design loosely based on a Norton Manx Sprint / Short Circuit fuel tank, quite often seen on British Cafe Racers such as Tritons. Underside is based on a BMW Monolever , enabling this tank to fit all R2v series, with provision for Monolevers relay board by the centre frame tube and Master Cylinder on ATE bikes.
Front and rear mounts in metal, exactly positioned as originals.
Longer than standard /6 tank onwards BMW tanks by 30mm (a little over 1") so it will not fit with standard BMW seat without modifications to the seat or alternatively use my tail section, also for sale on this site.
Fuel tap lugs present as per original, designed to accept original BMW taps, 20x1mm fitting.
GRP (fibreglass) made, excellent quality, very sturdy, finished in glossy white gel coat and special inside coating for petrol protection. Not the usual rubbish full of cracks, air bubbles etc. Special care was given to the small details, including the edges to minimize the amout of preparation work required for painting.
Its quality will require minimal preparation work for painting, reducing thus the costs.
Full instructions and fitting advice will be provided, along with after sales fitting advice assistance, if required.
Fuel cap opening caps such as Monza or Aston Martin type. Chrome Monza or Aston Martin type (no key lock) caps are available at £25 or €30 each or Aston Martin type in alloy for £29 or €35, please do contact us for more details.
Please note that if outside UK you should enquire first with your country authorities if you are able to run a GRP tank on the public road, otherwise it may only be allowed for racing/off road use or static show. It is your responsability to obey and comply to your country legislation.
Bio fuels based on methanol, ethanol or any type of alcohol should not be use for long periods (ie: wash it after a race meeting) as it is highly corrosive, not only damaging the tank, but also any other rubber components found in older fuel systems such as hoses and carburators components. It also absorbs water, accelerating corrosion on unprotected metal components, especially inside the engine.
The tank is coated inside with a special coat to resist normal modern fuels but if you intend to run Bio Fuels, a alchool resistant coating can be applied at extra cost, please do contact us for more details.
if you require more information or need to clear any doubt, please do contact us, we'll be more than happy to help.
Excellent value for money compared with alloy tanks, which you will not find specifically done for the Airheads with such accuracy of fitting.
Fuel caps, fuel taps and other accessories are also available at extra cost.
