When ordering please state:

Diameter of the rim e.g. 19"
Width of the rim e.g. 1"85 or WM2
Number of holes e.g. 36 or 40 spokes
Type of rim e.g. flanged alloy or flangeless chrome

Most rims are stocked undrilled so they can be drilled with the correct spoke angles to suit the hub size. To ensure that this is as accurate as possible we would like the following information:

Make, Model & Year. e.g. BMW R90S 1974

Specify whether front or rear hub

Diameters A & B of hub e.g. 115mm/60mm

Width of hub (between flange centres) e.g. 52mm (2")

Diameter of nipple hole required e.g. 6.3mm (0.250")

Spokes are available in galvanised or polished stainless steel and we prefer a pattern. When ordering please state:

Overall length (see diagram) e.g. 215mm (8.5")
Wire diameter e.g. 4mm (8 gauge)
If butted state both diameters e.g. 4/3mm (8/10 G)
Head angle e.g. 90 degrees
Nipple diameter e.g. 7.8mm (0.300")

Please note that while we try to ensure that spoke sizes are correct, hand fitting is often required due to variations in rims and hubs.
Butted Spokes are available in stainless only and the following sizes 6-8, 8-9, 9-10 and 8-10

Spoke Gauge 6 (4.8m.m) = Nipple size - .300 .300 = Nipple body OD 7.8mm
Spoke Gauge 8 (4.0m.m) = Nipple size - .300 .250 = Nipple body OD 6.3mm
Spoke Gauge 9 (3.5m.m) = Nipple size - .250/.300 .225 = Nipple body OD 5.7mm
Spoke Gauge 10 (3.0m.m) = Nipple size - .225/.250/.300 .200 = Nipple body OD 5.1mm
Spoke Gauge 12 (2.4m.m) = Nipple size - .200/.225

Some bikes have the wheels built with the rim offset to the hub centre line (this is referred to as the dish). If you require this or are cutting the rim from the hub yourself, please measure this as shown taking themeasurement from the brake drum edge or disc mounting face.

We also need to know the width of the rim fitted when the dish was measured.

If fitting a wider than standard rim and tyre, check clearances between tyre and chain or shaft housing and swing arm.
